I have been treating my tank for aefw with purge and decided today to dip my frag tank corals. I bought coral defense coral dip at my lfs. I mixed as instructed and dipped for the high end of the time specified for the dip. I shook the corals fairly aggressively after the dip which was probably a mistake. Looking at them now several of the corals look as if all the tissue is either gone or lost any color it had. I guess time will tell if the corals will survive. I treated probably close to 50 corals and maybe 12 look close to death. several lessons learned today.

I am sorry to hear this. I have never even heard of it. It is a teatree and other natural base like CoralRx or Revive, or more soft on coral like Bayer? I have found that most coral dips are quite harsh on acros don't care for them if they are already being treated. Bayer is the exception where I have never seen anything harmed by Bayer (even smooth skinned acropora).

If the dip is effective against AEFW, then just a gentle baste or swirl is more than enough to kill the live worms.

Yes it is suppose to be a natural treatment. It isnt as cloudy as bayer but not clear so I really didnt see what was going on in the bucket. Might not have done so much damage if I hadnt shaken the coral so hard in the dip water. I should have just used the bayer that I have. Maybe Ill get lucky and they will recover.
