Anyone use CPR Bak-Pak Protein skimmers?

I recently purchased the CPR Bak-Pak Dual Protein skimmer. It seems a little loud and not really sure if its even skimming. I dont have any fish in the tank and I only added live rock 2 days ago and started putting flakes in the tank to get ammonia about 3 days ago. So maybe its not skimming because there is nothing to skim.

Any ideas on making it a little less loud? Or is there any other fine tuning I should know about?
