I ordered a 5 gallon bucket of the calcium chloride, and a couple of jugs of Tech M for now. Thanks again!

It sounds like he might be using their kalk. Thanks!

You're welcome!

He wasn't using kalk, as he and I had discussed it at great length. He ordered Calcium Chloride and Sodium Carbonate and one was leaving the precipitate. I'll give him a shout and see which one it was and post it. Other than that he is happy with the results, just adds an additional step in making the chemical.

Just spoke with him it was the Magnesium portion that mixes up cloudy for him, my apologies. While checking on this tonight Foster& Smith are aware of it as they posted a reply to an online question;

[h=1]Can I mix Magnesium Chloride and Magnesium sulfate in the same container?[/h] "Thank you for your question. Per the manufacturer: Yes, they can be mixed in the same container. It is likely some precipitate will form – it is calcium sulfate and is fine to dose the precipitate into the system. The Magnesium chloride will contain some calcium and the Magnesium sulfate has the sulfate, so you get a small amount of calcium sulfate."

My friend siphons off the top or uses a shorter tube in the gallon jug, so that it can not reach the solids in the bottom. It is a precaution he takes, but is not necessary to do so. :thumb:
