Recently bought reef energy by Red Sea and I was wondering how you guys use it and if there is anything special I should know about it. Do you guys use it daily? I used it for the first time and put in 8ml for a 120 display tank but 200 total volume. I shut off all the pumps to the sump and just let it circulate in my display for about 45 minutes.

I haven't tried it but would like to hear some results.

I've been using it daily for about 3 months. I like it, but I'm debating whether I like it enough to continue. Slight increase in coral growth, but nothing amazing. Essentially from what I can figure out it is basically coral snow meets amino acid product. Anyone else tried it?

Before this I have been using Coral Amino from Brightwell Aquatics. The coral seemed to love it. I guess its the same concept. Well I have been putting in 10ml a day since I got it so we will see.

i have also been using it for a month or two and have only seen slight results if any. i probably will not use again

OK, big problem. Within last few days have noticed coral color lessened and I actually have some coral receding. There has been no change in anything else in my tank. I don't know if it is specifically the reef energy but this is what gets me really concerned about the stuff. When I would add it to the tank one of my favorite purple SPS corals would begin to shed mucus when I added it to the tank. This would happen within 5 minutes of adding it in the tank. And thats one of the corals which is showing white spots. Feedback please

cm079- Do you keep the Reef Energy refrigerated? It's supposed to be...

I've used RE for a year or so now. IME it does not cause any harm to corals. In fact, you should see increased color and PE within a weeks time.

Yes it is refrigerated and I put in 10ml of each everyday. I let it circulate in my tank only for about 45-60 minutes. I don't understand what the problem would be. It definitely irritates at least my purple nana sps

I've never heard of this food irritating corals. I would look for other stresses like dKH, carbon dosing, GAC, etc. Ultimately, if you still feel it's not working, stop using it.

Thank you sure the refrigeration bit. I won some at a show and it's been sitting out ever since

I never heard of it up till now. I'm guessing your're using both the A and B parts that I saw. Based on their description it pretty much seems like what a lot of other products are, in one bottle. I personally have been using Seachem Reef Plus for years and actually stopped using it for a while because my coral was just getting out of control. I just picked it up again recently because i cut my bigger colonies down so i could get a bunch of new frags. Combine the Reef Plus with some Pohl's Coral Vitalizer and I get pretty ridiculous growth and colorization, and the vitalizer lasts me forever.

Be honest I have no idea what to do anymore. yes I am using A and B. Can anyone tell me if Reef Energy is the same concept as Coral Amino from Brightwell Aquatics? I have used that without any issues.

I've been using A&B on my 14 gallon for about 3 months, 2mL per day of each (it's a low nutrient tank) along with cyclopeeze and leave the return pump off for about an hour. I like it, and my corals seem to be doing well on it. But I'm not sure it is any better than the Seachem Reef Plus I was using. The one nice advantage is that it doesn't seem to have the iodide. My iodide was always sky high on the Reef Plus. Near as I can tell the reef energy is an amino acid supplement and coral snow type supplement. I haven't had any issues other than the night I forgot to turn the return pump back on. It was off for about nine hours. My corals, hermits and snails were fine, but I lost a lawnmower blenny and a peppermint shrimp. Still trying to figure out why those died but not the others. My best guess is that with the return pump off the O2 saturation plummeted and the lawnmower blenny and peppermint shrimp weren't able to tolerate it as well. Maybe something similar is happening in your tank?

You shouldn't be anywhere near overdosing it with a 200 gallon, so my only guess would be that something in it is interacting poorly with another supplement. Do you use other brands of trace/vitamins/aminoacids/etc.? The formulations are not standard as to what is included, and many don't even give any listings. I'm kind of obsessive about keeping all my trace/vitamins/aminoacids from the same company to minimize this likelihood. This is one of the reasons I actually started using reef energy was that I started using red sea's reef colors line and didn't want to set myself up for an overdose or interaction by continuing the reef plus from seachem that I was using.

I don't see why anything would be wrong with it. I say if it seems to be working for u go with out. If not try something else till you find something you like. There are just so many choices out there, the only way to make up your mind completely is by trying and seeing what you like best. And if you like it pt up a nice review somewhere for someone else to read. That's what i did with reef plus on marine depot's site. I use out cause when i first started out i saw garf was using it, and it worked well for me so i figured why change. Although i did once try Kent coral accel and i didn't care for it that much.

Sent from somewhere using something.

LPSlover very interesting what you wrote about when your return pump went out. In the 120 tank I was/am dosing 10ml of both A and B and shutting off the return. Maybe that is too much time and concentrated reef energy for a 120 with a decent amount of LR. Maybe I should just let it run through my entire system and shut the protein skimmer off as directed. Problem is I would have to use more A and B
