I'm getting the IM 20 long. It's 23.6 inches long. This light would fit and from what I can tell is a pretty good option. Has anyone used this light before?

I've personally never used it before. I typically use Fluval reef lights. But by the looks of the spectrum its looks to be suitable to me. The light that you buy depends on your personal preference, budget, and what you plan to keep in your tank. Ex: macroalgae do not require blue or violet light to thrive, but corals do, and vise versa.

I don't see a Watt. But it shows PAR levels

I'm going to be only having Softies and a few LPS nothing too light demanding.

Agreed with spectrum. Looks like it has a bump around 420. But as stated, no indication of wattage.

With the low wattage, I find iy impossible that these are true PAR numbers. Bare minimum is 95wt and best at 146-165 wt

Why wouldn't macroalgae want blue/violet?

Macroalgae(plant) can take in blue/violet light, but they're chloroplasts only need to take in cyan, and red, due to their pygments. Coral zooxanthellae and algae live in different conditions in the wild, and have evolved to take in different wavelengths of light. However really all plants need cyan and red light to photosynthisize efficiently. In contrast, corals photosynthisize most efficiently, and effectively when taking blue and violet wavelengths.

Macro will do great under pure red 660nm, it’s all that’s needed

IF you get this light, I would do the 24-30 inch one so you are not running one little cluster of tiny leds in the middle. I just don’t see how that would work for spread when it sits on top of the tank.

It’s probably fine for softies, my first tank grew softies with small power compacts.

I personally still wouldn’t choose this light as there is no telling about its build quality or longevity in a salt water environment. I would just spend a little more for something more tested like a noop or vipraspectra.

I’ll stand down

The light in question is unproven and i do not believe the par ratings. I would suggest the vipar, it’s got tons of people that use it and i know it’s a beast of a light that will grow anything

I really appreciate all the advice. I'm not going to have any high light demanding coral. Mostly softies. Zoa, Mushrooms, Cloves, cestipularia. And a few LPS Acan/Micro, Duncan, a chalice. I have a par meter to test it when it comes in. I will keep everyone updated on the progress.

I'm on a very limited budget, and this build might take a while. BUT I will get it finished

That looks fine but remember that is probably with all channels at max and you may personally not run everything that high.
