dont want to put live rock directly on glass and putting it on substrate makes it prone to landslides when my fish/inverts go digging. Anyone use any kind of padding under their sandbed?

PVC board you can get it at home depot

I've always used "Eggcrate" which is actually lighting diffuser between the glass & live rock. It helps to lock the rock in place, as well as keeping it up off the glass. Comes in approx. 2ft x 4ft pieces & is easily cut with a pair of pliers. Available at home improvement stores. HTH

I’ve used acrylic or starboard in the past without issue to mitigate point loading on the glass bottom. I don’t personally like using eggcrate as it tends to trap detritus. You also don’t want something that is too buoyant like pvc foam board (ask me how I know lol).

You can pick up sill gasket at any hardware store. It's just a 1/8" thick, 3 1/2" wide rolled foam. Cut it to any size. You only need a small pad at contact points.
