So after a long cycle I have been dealing with some algae issues. After my first couple wcs all of my params are great except phosphate. Was going to order gfo on Amazon but was going to take a few days. Decided to take a look at Petco. I found this product and decided why not give it a try.

I put less than half the container in a filter bag and placed in a high flow area of my sump. A day later I can see a noticeable difference. The algae looks almost white and much less. The cyano I had looks visibly less on my sand bed.

I have a seachem phoaphate test. Little tough to differentiate colors but from what I see it has dropped significantly. I started at .15 and from what I can see today it looks like I am closer to .5

I know changes should be gradual but I figured with no coral yet it shouldn't hurt. Just a few fish but coral coming soon.

Once I get phosphate in range I plan on using gfo sparingly, as needed.

I used to use it, then switched to BRS high cap GFO. It is good that you are bringing your numbers down before adding corals. They don't enjoy big swings when it comes to parameter adjustments. I would find out the source of the phosphates as well, some foods are loaded with it, the rocks could be leaching too.
I have switched to carbon dosing for my export method and have not looked back.

I'm just that the majority is from the dry rock. It peaked out at just above .1 ppm as I didn't cure it separately in salt water. I did bleach cure it for about a month prior to going in the tank though.

Tank has been fishless up to just a couple of weeks ago.

Thanks for the feedback
