So I am using a recirculating bio pellet reactor after having used the Aquamaxx BP reactor for about 3 months. About 3 weeks ago I upgraded to a recirc reactor and added all the BP from the Aqua unit into the new reactor. The tumble in the new reactor is perfect, no clumping great fluidization and I control the rate of effluent.
I recently noticed that I have a film building inside the chamber, they are long white stands and over the course of the last week I notice more of them. I had the effluent rate turned down quite a bit as I was trying to raise my PO4 from zero to at least.03-.05. Nitrates are still hovering around 10.
Anyway my question is to anyone using a recirculating unit if they have seen this on theirs, if I should clean the substance out of the reactor etc.
I am sure it is from restricting the rate of return into the tank since the old aquamaxx unit was basiclly "what goes in" is "what comes out"-all being based on whatever rate the pump was-
TIA for any input
I advocate free speech so post away :xd:
