Anyone using Inkbird?

So Sunday night I came home to a 97.8 degrees tank. My heater stuck on. (I've only had fish tanks for about a year so I'm still learning). My tank was 7m old. I lost all my lps and my sps including the ones I just got at a local swap Saturday afternoon. And a fairy wrasse.
So I'm looking into a heater controller. The apex jr is out of my price range right now. So is anyone using the Ink-Bird ITC-308? It looks like I can use it to control my heater and also to turn on a cooling fan.

I'd save up for an Apex. I bet you just lost much more in livestock then a used Jr.

I'd save up, you can get a used jr for $185 on the used section right now. I'd really think hard about it since the controller is like an insurance policy you want one that's reliable and actually works when you need it and the apex jr has a proven track record and you can check in remotely/get alerts). If that's still too much you can pick up a reef keeper lite for $125 new so I'd imagine their a bit less used and that'd at least give you basic timer/temp programmability, but you won't get alerts unless you buy the .net module later which wasn't cheap IIRC.

I use the ink bird. We just had a heater go bad and it set off an alarm telling us of the temp problem. You need to be there though. It's an inexpensive controller that meets a need.

I have an inkbird stc 1000, I wired it to a plug in, if you get a double outlet box the thermo stat with fit in one square plug hole and the receptacle in the other. Get a cheap extension cord to be able to plug it in and you will have a dedicated temp controller for less than 20 bucks.

Should have searched the one you asked first. I'd gladly have paid the extra 15 bucks and saved the time. Assuming that thing works as well as the standalone thermostat.

I would suggest apex because they have safety measure built in which can kill the plug and also text you to let you know of the alarm. You should try to pick up a used system.

I did this as well, use it on my quarantine tank. I have a build thread in the diy section.. . I looked at the 308 but somewhere I read the metal probe rusted in saltwater. The itc 1000 the probe is all rubberized, and easily and cheaply replaceable.

I'm getting ready to use one on my new tank actually! Have used them before with success and no complaints from me. Prior to this (and prior to other controllers) I used a Ranco which was a ton more expensive and really not a whole not better for my use case aside from being far more industrial.
