I ordered a NextReef MR1 reactor to run GFO based on its reviews where users said no dead spots with this reactor when running GFO. I decided to try it because I have a Phosban reactor that has dead spots when in operation.

I was not pleased with my new NextReef MR1 reactor. In the reactor, half the media is completely dead/still and the other half is agitated very nicely. I checked the instruction to make sure the inlet (center) and outlet (side) are hooked up correctly. I have a 500 gph pump with valve to control flow. Anyone knows what the problem is. Thanks!

What kind of media are you using? I use rowaphos in the MR1 and have no problem with the media tumbling. 500gph should deff be enough flow

Gfo from Bulkreef. I check inside the reactor. Water doesn't seem to distribute equally, which causes one side flow and oe side still. Not sure whats wrong. It is brand new.

Id rise the sponge really well and if that doesn't work test with a higher flow pump or finer grain gfo, the brs gfo used to clump up on me because of the larger media grain size took more flow to tumble..
