Anyone using Red Sea ABCD Trace elements?

That’s good to hear man. Your not really at a certain dosage and certain day. Just 3-5Ml every other.

Are you still doing water changes
Yes. I do plan to use a doser and will do prob. just 2 ml or less a day to start. I did my first water change earlier this month after using reef flux and chemiclean. I did a 20%. Now I'm doing an AWC of about 5-6 % a week or about 6 gal. And I might not even do that every week. Right now I'm still trying to get no3 below 20 so doing some small changes. But it throws my numbers off for calcium etc.

And how does this get administered? Mixed in with water then dosed ?

Yes, dissolve the needed amount in RO/di.

use this calculator and the entry for potassium from potassium nitrate, then multiply that recommended dosing amount by 0.74 (because potassium chloride is more potent than potassium nitrate)

I actually have potassium nitrate on hand but that’s completely different then chloride right

Right, do not use that for a substantial potassium boost.

I think that with the trace elements, small amounts being dosed is the best way to go about it. The only trace element I dose separately would be iron as I have a refugium that probably takes up a fair amount. I also do it to help counter hydrogen sulfide production.

What iron do you use ?

Can I ask why not to do that? I dose KNO3 in my FW planted regularly. Granted it is FW and only 5-10ppm a week but my curiosity is piqued now.

Edit: I'm mixed up, ignore me. I dose kno3 primarily for nitrate, not potassium

Right, a 100 ppm boost to potassium (that the op was asking about) will boost nitrate by 159 ppm.

This calculator does not have potassium chloride .

Do you know the max potassium in mg shall be dosed per day?

I am happy with Potassium levels between 300 and 500, ideally around 400. Most salt will get you here. Why are we making this harder than it needs to be?

My potassium is around 240 I’d like to raise it with the potassium chloride .
Three questions: 1 Have you verified your potassium level with a second method? 2 Do you want to raise your potassium level due to an observation in your tank that was not observed at elevated potassium levels? 3 Did you verify those potassium level with a second method?

I’m Just using the Red Sea test kit for potassium

I’d say the colors do appear dull

your suggesting to buy another test kit , and the Red Sea is not accurate

Not suggesting that the red sea kit is not accurate. Only that a second opinion is always a good idea. I will say that the Elos Potassium kit is a joke and you should avoid it.

Correct, which is why I said use the entry for potassium from potassium nitrate. I’d limit the dose to 10 ppm per day, but that’s just guessing as there’s no data specifically suggesting what is best.
