I recently bought what was claimed to be Yellow Montipora Capricornis but after 2 weeks to let it settle down and color up from transport, it is indistinguishable to my lime green montis. Just wondering, are there any reefers out there with such an monti you can call "yellow" (eg. yellow like a fiji toadstool)? Also, does anyone have a bright red monti? All those who they call red, to me looks more like a bright rusty brown or like a bright Setosa... what I call red would be like the red on the USA flag red. Thanks.

I feel like quite a bit of coral called yellow is only yellow under blues and is actually green under whites.

A+ on the yellow thing. All of my ‘yellow’ corals are like a highlighter color with a splash of super light lime so they look kind of bright yellow-green. Very pretty, but not truly yellow. The only true yellows I’ve managed to find are scrambled egg zoas. I have a red plating monti that is as you describe (US flag red, possibly even Canada flag red) cost me $20 at the LFS.

Thanx, so there is hope I will find a true red monti.:) I did own what I call a true red mushroom way back, but never seem one like the one I had..it unfortunately melted away. As for any coral that is yellow, I can say some zoas, maybe some plate fungia and some expensive SPS has bright yellows ( eg.yellow tang/ watchman goby) but not much else like yellow star polyp ( I call mustard ).
