Anyone with experience with neon dottyback?

Three days ago. Do they have a swim bladder? I'm deworming them with prazi pro as part of their quarintine. I'm wondering if the prazi pro is not good for them. Anyways they swim around and eat.

I had one briefly. Only a couple days in my DT, he was a mean and nasty bugger. I did notice he had some heavy breathing but otherwise acted and looked healthy. A beautiful fish. Wish i could have kept him, but he was too much for my 29gal

You want to know something? Mine are really nice I bought them as a pair with a royal gramma and they are all in my 14 gallon quarintine together. They've been with me since Saturday. I don't think they have a swim bladder because of the way they get around.

I really like the Neon. I am glad they are working out for you. It was the last fish i added to my tank after reading they can be aggressive sometimes. He was already Medium in size when i purchased him. So maybe he was from a rough neighborhood. As far as the heavier breathing it was never an issue. He is alive and well in my buddy's larger tank with bigger fish and more rock work

By far one of the most aggressive and SMART fish I've ever owned. Had one for 3+ years (until total tank crash from bad ich outbreak) in a FOWLR tank with triggers, angels, tangs, puffers. It was one of the first fish I bought when I restarted the hobby 6 years ago, thought it would be cute and cuddly based on size but quickly realized I couldn't add anything new to the tank without it being viciously harassed. So when I started adding new tanks I put it in my FOWLR, one of the first fish in there, and even tho it was only maybe 2", it harassed everything else that went in, Humu trigger, blueline trigger, Flagfin Angel, dogface puffer, lionfish, and more, and everyone of these fish were easily double the dotty's size, it had no fear. It would dart in and out of rocks attacking from all angles and then disappearing. Hope yours are nice, sweet fish, just gnarly mean.

I guess it's my environments I provide. I had a strawberry dotty back that was very docile. It jumped out of the tank though.

yeah i didnt want to scare him completely, but a real rough neck of a fish. Like when they say dynamite comes in a small package. But i will also repeat that i really dig this fish.

Lol BOOOOMMMM. Sweet little fish tho, just good to know what you're getting in to...

I understand they are good right now, but allow them to adjust and check back in with us after adding a new fish, and see if they are still as sweet as they are now :)

But on the subject of the quick breathing, mine did do that as well. Small fish, always darting around, probably needs a lot of oxygen.
