Anyone with Lionfish experience?

Hello! I am interested in eventually getting a lionfish in the future, specifically the mombasa, radiata, or antennata lionfish. This would be my first saltwater aquarium but I do have freshwater experience. I don't plan on getting a lionfish as my first saltwater fish but I always like to plan out and learn what I can for when the day comes. The fish would be in a 80g and I was wondering what other people's experiences are with lionfish in general. Have you had good luck with them in a reef tank? If so, what, if any small fish would you rule out as tank mates? Thanks for the info!

Click my name and "find all threads", after doing some of your own research if you have specific questions, I would be happy to answer them. 1st thing to know, all of the dwarf and medium body lions have feeding challenges, an observation tank to establish health and a feeding schedule is highly recommended.

I’ve seen dwarf lions in a 30 doing great sometimes even a twenty

I have 2 in a 75 gallon. Mine only eat live food. Ghost shrimp and guppies.
Until recently I had a fuzzy and an antennata. The fuzzy got pinned under a rock by my urchin and died.

I got a zebra to replace him.

Their tank mates are 2 snowflake eels

a CBB and a tang

I love my volitan. initially he would eat only live food but I was able to get him to eat frozen by feeding him at night with long tongs. After a while he would eat with the rest of the fish. Stings hurt a lot so be careful when you put your hands in the tank.
