Anyone with the JBJ rimless 45? Question........

Did you drill your tank or use a HOB overflow?
I used a Tunze overflow it's a Tunze 7004/2 it's ok doing the job but I'm looking for closer to 600 GPH turnover but getting about 400 now
I'm trying to do a YouTube video but I'm not good at it. Will try again this morning to post it
 
Dunno if you can see it well,one side drains more than the other. I also have a mp10 for some flow. But i turn it off to see if it was affecting the drainage

Are you sure this isn't just from the tank not being perfectly level?
 
Any updates on the pros and cons of plugging the holes? I have a pistol shrimp that keeps shoveling sand into the middle hole where its sucked up by the return pump and makes it rain sand in the display. Any ideas on alternatives to epoxy to use as a plug?

I didn’t know there were three small holes towards the bottom of the tank I know of two but I’m careful I had a six line wrasse get caught in one no fun
 
I just got done plugging all 3 of the holes that are in the back wall of my JBJ 45 rimless. The water level dropped only a little bit, but I do believe that I seem to be getting more water flow into the 2 outside overflow baffles. That's to be expected since the 3 holes are now plugged. My ATO compensated for the slightly lower level with now problems.

I really had no problems with my water quality before. It will be interesting if I notice any difference in the tank after a week.

I used the epoxy/putty for tanks to plug the holes.

The water level is dependent on high you have it and how strong your pumps are. ( I went to a single pump) but you don't want it too high normally the center section is lower then the other two. Water flows into the outside baskets, into the next two ( in the bottom) and then over the walls into the center section.

I didn't think of plugging those holes. I went to a sump inside of my stand. I plugged the left side overflow. In the left I have filter media ( in a intank basket - see my YouTube video about it ) top basket is filter floss then poly filter, middle basket is matrix and last is purigen. In the right inside basket I have my innovative marine bio pellet reactor. From there the water flows through the center section over to the left. I have a Tunze overflow 7004/2 that not only has a skimmer at the height of the water but also has a tube that goes to the bottom of the basket. The water then flows into the stand into skimmer through a refugium with more live rock and sand and then back up and out of the original nozzles.

But I might plug those holes as well is there two or three?

Yes it is, there is a bunch of changes, I think I was doing videos on it.
I went to a CPR overflow from the Tunze and I have a Radion XR15 PRO light
On it. Several other changes. Lost 8 fish but that’s it.
But here is a picture of it that I just took just now of it

I can recommend sumps but need to know size of your stand, size of the vote ack if you AIO as well
 
My stand is 24x20. Vote ack?
So look at the smallest eshopps sumps.
I took the middle section of my stand out but reinforced the outside walls and top with 1x3’s my stand is 24x 20 too I believe
I bought a trigger systems crystal cube, the smallest one they have. When you look at overflows look at the smallest ones they make to try and fit into one of your areas ( I actually broke one of my walls to fit my CPR 90)

Here are pictures to you ideas my return pump is a Neptune COR15 which is overkill, my return line is one inch But goes all the way down to 1/2 in into two nozzles ( really slows it down)
The CPR 90 is a 1” drain but you could get a 3/4 for your size of tank and return as well. Look at SICCE return pumps. My return is allmost all hard pipe but you can have flex pipe.

It's hard to tell if you removed the back wall of tank.
No I did not,

That is why you see the return lines coming back up and over the back of the glass and into the original openings.
I had done this after I had the tank for about six months and seen someone else do it. Although he had use the Tunze overflow.
I’ve been thinking about removing the false front. But just how without taking out all the rock and fish

My over flow is bigger than I thought, it will have to go into the center, unless I can remove the plexiglass on one of the sides

I actually did break some of the glass on one end to make my overflow fit
And I do suggest keeping the overflow on end. I also suggest buying a small pump and use it to direct flow towards that end
