I tried posting this back in March and got nothing. I'm taking its native to the Caribbean if that helps. It grows at the pace of montipora give or take but will avoid getting to close to any sps. I think it's harmless with the exception of being unattractive. Educated guesses welcome as this stuff has me stumped.

Some type of encrusting gorgonia is my initial guess, though polyps look off for that. . .

Any closer up pictures of the polyps?
This was the pic from back in March and unfortunately lights down for the night. I'll get a new one tomorrow. Almost acts like it wants to start branching now.

Blue ridge ?

. . . fire corals?

I think you nailed it.

Yeah think the "polyps" look right. . . question is what species?

Also, according to Dave @shred5 sounds like these are not corals buy hydroza. . . interesting, maybe Dave can jump in with more insight.

"He is thinking of distichopora which can be yellow, red blue etc. Fire coral is a generic name for stylaster, distichopra and millepora. Millepora is the common fire coral that we see so often. These 3 corals are actually hydroza."

Also what would an ID thread be if we didn't call in @encrustingacro

Weird I pulled my hand outta the tank the other day and it felt like a cat scratched my wrist. Wonder if I grazed it? I Guess the next question is how to get rid of it?
