I have very little algae in my tank but this algae has been growing fairly quickly. Not sure what it is. It’s red and firm.
Will anything eat it? My urchin seems to ignore it.

Maybe a fuzzy chiton? Do as much manual removal as you can though. Are the rocks easy to remove?

Not very easy to remove, I built a 1 piece structure. Chiton is a good idea, I’ve ordered them several times and never had them survive shipping.

Your Cardinal fish seems to be saying "hey, you gonna do something about this algae over here?"

What type of urchin do you have? My pincushion seems to eat lots of stuff, tho I don't know that I've every had the specific algae you are showing.

Was gonna say the same thing! It looks like a pencil urchin, which seems to err on the side of omnivore. A tuxedo urchin would probably take care of it.

Hairy chiton, or Donabella (if you can borrow one...) are about the only things I can imagine

good luck

It is like a pencil urchin. It came in on my livestock. First time I saw it it was the size of a pencil eraser. It’s much bigger now, but I’m not sure it does much maintenance.

I also discovered about a month ago that I have the same thing in one of my tanks. I have been removing the rocks and soaking the algae in hydrogen peroxide for about 5 minutes. It definitely kills the algae in that particular location but it is also on some rocks that I can't easily remove. That is the only algae I currently have in that tank so I'm trying to keep it at bay. I started dosing Vibrant today and will try that for a couple months and see if that takes care of it.
