My Rhodactus recently split and this central appendage has since appeared. Any idea what it is?

Vermitid snail,

can’t exactly say it is harmless since its mucous will irritate corals esp SPS but can’t say it is harmful either. More of a nuisance. If you can remove the mushroom from the tank, just smash the vermitid snail and clear as much of it from the coral. Then glue or epoxy over the remains.
