If at all possible can some tell me if I can save my first and only SPS? I've had it since 4/21/14. Have had wonderful growth, great PE. But now it's not looking to good. I can think of only 2 things that may have happened.

First is I target fed it some Reef Roids. Maybe got to close?

Second is Alk swings. Not major ones. But I don't know enough about this coral to say for sure.

A few branches are showing very little PE. And it looks like it's spreading.

Please LMK what if anything I can do.

Actually doesn't look too bad to me. If anything is wrong I'd blame the alk. If you have polyps showing it's a good sign even if lighter colored. If you have totally dead branches then frag them off and save the healthy parts.

I would also say alk. but check your lights... bulb replacement? with sps its always one of the big three. light, chem, flow.

Lights are LED's, been running for 17wks. Definitely got good flow. I'm getting my ALK balanced out. But I fear whatever it is, it is to late to save. I'm thinking of fragging it up.

I would try fragging a piece and moving it lower in the tank. Those bright white patches look bleached to me. Alkalinity swings cause tissue necrosis (flesh and polyps would be gone) and RTN typically starts at the base.

I would say alk too. I feed reef-roids as well but when I had some alk swings, even minor... all of my birds started to get white spots exactly like yours. The acro's were totally solid though, go figure!!

I ended up fragging mine and got the alk stable with a automatic doser.
