AP700 vs maxspect Razor x?

Just curious what you guys think of the difference in the new razor? I will have a 6’ tank and would be willing to try it out if you guys believe it looks promising. If the AP700 is just above and beyond then I would rather stick with it. I know it’s new so there won’t be a lot of feedback.

I'm not familiar with the razor at all unfortunately however I do currently use the ap700 and love it. I used the kessil a360 before that and I've had nothing but good luck with them and the ap700.

I do only for the fact that the ap700 is WiFi controllable the a 360s are controllable but through an external controller such as the spectral controller or an apex. and the ap700 is more powerful than the 360 s. Also the sleek streamline design of the ap700 looks super sexy over Any tank whether it's hung or used with the 90° mounting arms.

Right now I would still take the Kessil AP700 over any other LED available. Of you really really want the very top most bestest light possible? Add some T5s to LEDs and you’ll be set.

I think I’m set on those 700’s. I had the previous razor versions and I loved them but it seems like more people buy and like the kessils. I’m going to give them a shot. I will have a shallow reef so I know they will be plenty of light.

Just came across thisn thread. Did you end up getting the AP700s? I am looking for new lights and am interested in either getting 2 maxspect ethereals, the new razor x, 2 Kessil 360s, or the ap700.

So many choices!!!

Is that true that the 700 is more "powerful" or is it just blended better (less focused beams)? I was kicking around the BRS website and it says the ap700 is good for ~3ft width and 2ft depth. Two 360we is ~4Ft W x 3ft D (assumes mounting 7-10" off water surface).

Numbers wise, the AP700 is technically only 5 watts more powerful than a pair of A360s. But the AP700 has a new reflector, and has more LEDS than the A360. It allows you to add in red and green as wanted using slider bars similar to the radions or the ai primes, but you can only use the preset blues on the color wheel. The AP700 is recommended at 36" for SPS dominant, and 48" for a mixed reef with sps in the center near the top.

FWIW, this is my second Razor.
I am also using the ICV6 WiFi controller which gives much more and easier control.

This tank is relatively new 4-5 months and no sps yet.

My last one performed very well and with the improvements made on the X, I have high hopes.

I also like the mounting system for the type of look I want with my tank.

I only have had ap700 and my lfs has an older razor model. So based on that knowledge I would choose ap700. Plus the color blending is top notch and reflector/lenses is awesome.

Just picked the 300w Razor after considering the Kessil... I [emoji173]️ Kessil, but loved the size/spread of the razor. More light for the money imo
