Newbie to reefing...is this apastia?

Welcome to reef2reef , hope you like it here and don’t hesitate to ask questions.
Looks like aptasia and should be killed right away

Yup! I used a peppermint shrimp to keep any apastia at bay that manages to get into my tank. As others have said they can multiply quickly, so whichever method you choose to get rid of it don't wait too long.

Hi everyone,

my LFS is closed today, am I okay to wait until tomorrow to see if they have the Aipastia X or should I try other home remedies?

Make sure to get the needle into the aptasia and run carbon just be to b safe

Yes, its an Aiptasia <---- correct spelling

I can confirm that Aiptasia-X is very effective as long as your entire tank inst infested. If it is you cant just get to every singe one of them.

For bigger infestations, I'd recommend Peppermint Shrimps, FileFish, Berghia Nudis in that order. The peppermints and filefish are hit or miss depending on where they are collected so its always great to get them from somebody who bough it before for that purpose. Berghias are very effective but often perish before they get to the task and starve once the infestation is removed.

Take the rock out and using a torch lighter burn deep into the cavity where it's at and rinse with saltwater and back into tank.
That would be an excellent idea if that rock wasn’t the base for the other 6 rocks . Maybe I can take a picture of how my rocks were set up so I can replace in the same manner.

Thanks

I've always used kalk paste to kill them. Works great. You can pick some up at most grocery stores. Mrs Wages pickling lime is what you want. Mix up a paste, suck it into a syringe, squirt a little on the oral disc, it will shrink up. Then entomb it. Do this with all flow off and leave it for about 10 min. Restart flow. Done. The kalk will gel up and totally dissolve the little guy. If you have a large infestation just go slow(3-5 every other day) so you don't cause a alk spike.

Good luck
