Any way to get rid of aptasia should i just take all the rock out? And get new rock

I use a two fold approach.
A pep.
One by one with Aptasia X. When I see, I kill.
It’s taken about six months now but looks clean for the last 3 weeks.

Getting new rock of course does the trick up,front, but invariably, these little annoying pests will find their way back in, so, keeping in control makes sense,

See and kill.

Unfortunately, even removing all of the rocks won't guarantee that it's completely gone. It can be in your sand and/or filter media. I've had some success with peppermint shrimp, but there's lots of ways to battle aphasia.
Welcome to R2R by the way!

Aptasia is just apart of the process. The only thing that really works for me is peppermint shrimp. Buy at least 2. $14.

I've used Aptasia-X and it sucked.... Didn't kill a thing, but others have had success with it.

The only issue with Peppermint shrimp is they have the potential to seek out some coral if they do not have aptasia to eat. No problem.

Cut a water bottle top off invert it and toss some reef roids in it at night if you ever want to catch them. Full-proof method.

GOOD LUCK! <3

Be careful with peppermints. Even true peppermints can decide they want more in their diet than just Aiptasia. Mine for no apparent food reason took to pulling Trochus snails out of their shells. They can also be a pain to remove from your tank if it comes to that.

If you need to go radical (where I was 2 years ago.) Take each rock out and paint it with latex paint thickness kalk paste (not the corals themselves.) Let it react/dry for 5 min, then replace the rock. Expect a 0.5 ph spike for a few hours.

Do the entire rock work over a few weeks. Also, expect a nutrient spike from all the dead aiptasia and surface algae.

Using this technique, I eliminated ALL of the apitasia. Believe it or not, not a single coral loss. And this is after doing peppermint shrimp, then a matted file fish (nibbled LPS too much), $1500 of Bergia nudis (promptly eaten by wrasses), all the while doing spot treatments.

I then added a Copperbanded butterfly, and have never seen one of those evil anemones since.

Good luck!

Why do you feed your wrasses such exapensive food? lol

just mess in’ with you. That’s a bummer they ate the Nudis

Majano Wand. Also Berghia Nudibranch to take care of the rest. Don’t get those if you have a wrasse. Aptasia X etc will most likely cause more to grow. Fry all the ones you can see and let the Berghia take care of the rest.

If you have a fowlr tank I had an aptasia eating filefish do the trick for me but after it got them all it turned on me by nipping chunks off of lps corals.
