Hi,

As a part of a package deal, I got a APEX 2016. I already have an APEX that works pretty well for me. I have two options:

1. Sell the new APEX 2016 and use what I already have
2. Sell my current APEX and upgrade to the new APEX 2016.

Note: I have no need of using the Triton. I haven't set up the new APEX 2016 so I have no clue of its new functionalities or ease of use. What are your recommendations?

Keep it as a backup, else move to #2.

I will say, the upgrade is a bit of a pain, having done it before. You can't just save/load a config file - you have to reprogram from scratch. Copy/Paste helps quite a bit, but not absolutely.

I upgraded from the apex lite to the 2016, and really didn't need to... there are some extra perks that you get with the 2016 outside of needing it for trident. Like wireless connectivity through wifi, monitoring current at each individual outlet (you can set alerts if the amp draw goes above or below a set threshold), more processing power, all activities can be performed under one hood (apex fusion) rather than toggling back and forth between 2 platforms, plus the eb832 is far superior than the old eb8.

I don't regret upgrading, however I could've done just fine with the older apex lite.

Thanx Guys.

It looks like I might have to upgrade. I also got the Neptune WAV pumps with the package and I just learned that unless I want to buy the link Module, I have to use the new Apex 2016 with the WAV pump.

It is ironic that I really wanted some GIANT pieces of "liverock" so I can redo my aquascape. Yes, Jimmy, I want to redo it.

But in addition to the GIANT pieces of rock, I had to buy a bunch of little rocks, a large skimmer, an APEX 2016, a 500W heater, HANNA testers and 2 WAV pumps.

It looks like I might just sell my old APEX after I set the new one up. I keep lots of things as back-up but then it usually just sits there and rust out. I might as well sell it to those who can use it.
