Apex breakout box

Ok thank you
So what makes it good to use?

The fact that it will close/open the circuit as it moves up/down. Is that your question?

Well does it need to be a specific voltage?
Or does the breakout box just need to know if it is open and closed?

It does not need to be a specific voltage. Just need to open/close the circuit.

I would not go with a cheap float switch, the ones on Amazon with the yellow wires do work (I have used them before), but also fail more often and float switches are not something you want to FAIL... I have also experienced voltage leak in my tank from these float switches giving my probes erratic readings.

Ok so what switches would you recomend? I'm only going to use it right now for skimmer off and for opening the door possibly a water level in the stand until the new apex flo stuff comes out

I get the ones with the black wires but i guess the same thing
is $15 a normal price for 1 float-switch
And failing how

Ok those are yellow wired ones how do you tell the difference between the cheap, expensive, and cheap being sold as expensive

I bought mine on Amazon here is a link. They don't come with nuts. Amazon offer suggestions when making a purchase they have a nut that you should by at the same time.

I also use Avast pressure switch and hopefully here soon Apex optical sensors.

I would highly suggest Madison float switches. Very reliable and good quality. Pick up a nut from hardware store or get from BRS too. I've been running many since 2009 with 0 issues.... (will probably have one fail me now! lol )

I use those in combination with pressure switches from Avast and Tsunami AT1.

Did anyone ever try one of these
Optical Infrared Water Liquid Level Sensor High Sensibility, Working with Liquid Level Controller Come with 1.8 Meters (6 Feet) Cable by Marinecolor https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00Z9NUJWW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_BbkSyb5AQAXM7

Neptune just came out with that optical sensor to plug into a FMM. They are also coming out with a complete kit for ATO soon with more then just the optical sensor.
