Hey everyone, I just got my hands on an apex wifi and trident. What are all the solutions I need to properly calibrate both the apex (all probes) and trident?

I tried searching for calibration solutions but the stuff I all see are either sold out or no longer available on BRS etc.

The trident calibration solution is included in your two month reagent box. Apex used to sell it on their website, but they have taken it down for whatever reason. Gets my goat because I almost always have to calibrate before my reagents need to be changed.

the others you can buy at BRS and Marine Depot, in addition to other shops.

Still on their site but sold out for quiet a while now :(

Thanks guys.

Didn't realize that the reagents came with calibration solution.

Fyi, marinedepot has the 2 month in stock.

If you call them they will send you an invoice for one or two if you are out. I’m actually ok with that.

For whatever reason my system drops calibration sooner than 2 months. It’s not a problem for me as long as I’m able to buy calibration fluid. I don’t like calibrating with tank water because I don’t really trust my Hanna Checker and salifert as much as I do the Trident tests.

I really hope I don't have to recalibrate as often as you are saying. It really defeats the purpose of the trident in my opinion. I already have a dosing system and I literally purchased an apex, dos and trident simply because I don't feel like doing the daily/weekly testing anymore. The rest of the apex functions are no where near as important to me.

Try aquarium specialty
Marine depot
Amazon

Calibrating is no big deal at all.

I don't calibrate until the reagent switch requires it. As noted already above each box comes with a calibration solution.

It is worth noting that regardless of manual or automated tests each of our systems behave differently. That is for sure one thing everyone is starting to get a better picture of. We can all setup the same systems in our own homes and Bob and Sally's will look different and have a variance in test results. Who would have thought...

Anyway fire up the trident. New or used I'd use a new set of reagents. Let it run for 72 hours then calibrate. I wasn't sure if you bought new or used but I'd let it run then calibrate because your environment will be different to include water source draw and trident placement.

Ya I got it used. I piece mealed my entire apex system together over the course of 5 months. Full apex wifi, eb832, 2 dos, trident cost me overall $775.

That is a heck of a deal - great job and frugal shopping. Really.

Right now there are only 2 month reagent kits available. There will be 6 month again which saves us all money in the long run (45 bucks for 2 months vs 95 bucks for 6). Anyway not sure if the person gave you unused reagents or what. If nothing else you can order them if you haven't and a calibration will be in the box.

Welcome to the club - it is a nice tool.

Thanks I really appreciate that.

I purchased new 2 month from marine depot (only place that had some in stock). Hoping that 6 month is in stock when COVID stuff comes to an end.
