Apex classic or apex?

I would hold off. I have several different apex units. I have had the jr, classic gold and now have the newest version. I am still working out the bugs. I have to hard wire it to get it to work nice had several support sessions and still getting a errors. I was just away for the weekend and I had a 25foot Ethernet cable running through my living room. I definitely like the new energy bar but the base unit with built in wifi is a waste. I am running the wavs and have a dos and ddr. I had a second pair of wavs to hook up but with all the problems I'm having with the new apex 2016 I might add a pair of MP40s instead. I'm sure in time it will be amazing just not now.
So ur saying stay with the classic I have?

The new units manufactured after July 2016, are bug free! I'm fortunate to have waited and bought mine late last month and was manufactured mid August... They're still working on some bugs with the earlier released units... Make sure you only buy the Apex units manufactured after July 2016!!

Ok look at it this way- the classic is a great device, and Neptune will continue to support it..... however..... it is a dead product and will be phased out over the coming years. This is the normal product life cycle in technology and we are fortunate that Neptune has decided to keep the legacy platform running Business as usual. As the Apex platform moves forward they will continue to build and provide new modules and equipment now that they are running a better, more powerful OS. These devices will be optimized for the new OS and will likely have compatibility issues with the classic apex over time.

Look how long the apex classic was around for! If you just need a good, powerful, controller to monitor basic functions and parameters go with the classic. If you think you will be using this controller 3-5 years from now and/or you are an equipment freak and could benefit from the advanced capabilities and the future modules, then go with the new apex.

If it was me I would pay 300 dollars now to future proof my controller and take advantage of the new functionality and the more powerful modules and equipment soon to come!

I agree I do but I just found out that as of right now everything apex is making will be compatible with the classic so I'm not to worried about it if I can make this last 4-5 years I'll be happy I will be

And thanks but I already have a classic with a lab grade probe why are u selling it?

How do you know if an apex is manufactured after July 2016?

Tank crash. I'm out
Aww man sorry to hear that.
I don't know what happened to cause the crash but I think u should take a little mental break don't sell any of ur equipment relax cause the big will come back after the bad taste is washed from ur mouth. And u will come back better then ever.
Sorry to hear once again

The newly released Apex has the equivalent of a single 1Link built in. It will run 3 WAV powerheads. It will also run 2 of your 24v devices such as the new PMUP device, a 100 gph pump with a tiny footprint. If you need a 4th WAV powerhead you will have to buy a 1Link module. Then you will be good for 4, 5 and 6 WAV powerheads.

I agree that the wireless networking feature is no big deal.

The classic Apex eb8 energy bars will give you a current draw measurement for the entire energy bar in amps. But it does not give you power consumption or energy consumption measurements that you can convert to a monetary cost of operation.

Leak detectors require ALD module(s) for either the new Apex or the Classic Apex.

fab

Thanks for the info I think I'm going to stick with the classic

I would wait until there is a firmware release (read bug fix) for the new products. I have the classic (I'm a classic myself as a baby-boomer) but I recognize the value of the latest release(s) of things. With that said, I also understand that new products always = bugs/bumps/work arounds, and I've no idea what kind of QA neptune does before a major product re-introduction. They didn't call me to test anything. :(
