So I’m getting back into the hobby after years of not having a tank. My tank right now is just cycling. So I had an apex classic gold and decided to use it, and it’s been working great, I have the PM2 module hooked up for my salinity probe.

This morning I woke up ate breakfast as soon as I got up to get ready I heard my Tunze ATO high level alarm going. I went downstairs to my apex EB8 and my return pump was turning on and off, as well as my heater. I unplugged everything and tried to plug the EB8 somewhere else but still had the same thing. Tried one more time and was still doing it, so I plugged all my stuff into a regular outlet and it all worked so I left for work. Has anyone ever had there EB8 turn the outlets on/off for no reason before? Not really sure what to do at this point was not planning on getting another controller at this point, but now the question is can I trust this EB8? Not sure what to do any suggestions?

Did you rest prior to setting it up again? Might have some old configuration from your previous tank.

What are the current port config?

Outside of checking settings and config (hope you checked this already).

You may try checking voltage at the plugs on the EB8 and seeing it they are actually cycling on and off or they are spiking. If spiking see below. If on and off, I cannot fid the post about how to repair that, but it was not bad of a job to it, if I remember correctly.

This is an older post, but take a look at this. May not be exactly what you need, but it does lay out a good list of things to troubleshoot and most can be done very easily with a simple volt meter.

I had an apex classic that was not working properly until I plugged a low voltage power source directly into the brain instead of relying on the usb to convey power from the eb8 to the brain. Maybe that’s the way it’s always supposed to be… not sure

Ok I’ll check it out, yea funny thing is it shows it does not lose power, the green light is always there. I have had this plugged in for a couple weeks and has worked great till this morning.

So let’s say I need a new controller can somebody tell me what I would need to upgrade this? I have all new probes so I don’t need them, I have a PM2 module hooked up for salinity. What would I need to upgrade this from the classic. Oh I also have the physical head unit that shows what your parameters without going to fusion will that be able to be hooked up to the new apex.
