I have always been under the impression that the outlets had a lifespan so to speak. That they were only good for x number of on/off cycles.

I am new to the calcium reactor world and am a few weeks into having mine setup. I see the outlet selonoid controlling my selonoid cycling on and off every few minutes. No way this can be good for the outlet.

Any advice to help?

Why don’t you adjust the effluent and bubble rate so the solenoid stays on permanently.

I haven't seen any official MTBF (mean time between failure) stats for the EB832, but for the old EB8's it was listed for 100,000 cycles, so I'd assume the EB832 is similar.

I would start by reducing the bubble rate. Assume you are using ph to trigger the solenoid currently? You want to get the bubble rate to the point that it holds the desired ph without cycling the valve. Then see if that maintains your alk levels. If it doesn’t increase the effluent and the bubble rate and check alk again.

I have a low demand tank and am using the aquarium plants reg set to slowest bubble rate. What can I do to make the effluent concentration weaker to avoid the ph control from turning the reg on (it does its work quickly and lowers ph) and off so rapidly?

I bumped up effluent and lowered rx ph. Seems to have worked.

Had a solenoid controlling c02 for over a year with no issues if that helps

I have gotten it down to cycling on/ off 6-8 times in a 24 hour period. I can live with that I think.
Thanks for input all.

Glad to see this post. My calcium reactor is in the mail. After getting everything for the reactor I didn’t think I could afford to get the carbon doser as well. So I got a Tunze regulator and a Apex Solenoid. I’ll get the carbon doser later. But wanted to make sure it would work in that configuration.
