Apex controller salinity reading

Double check with a calibrated refractometer. Mine is way off reading 42 and I’m currently waiting on a reply from Neptune on what to do. I’ve calibrated it 4 times. Don’t trust it till you can verify it.

I found the return section was bad for me as I got bubbles from my ato in my return section (the salinity changed the most there as well for the same reason so I'd get spikes up and down). I moved it to the side of my display fuge and it's worked much better there as there are no bubbles and lower flow
Agree, I have mine just after the water from the overflow return in the sump.

Calibrate. In 53000 solution should read 35PP. If not - probe issue. As an assurance, take some water to LFS and see what reading they get. Also have them check your refractometer to assure that too is accurate

Do not trust the salinity or ph reading on Apex
It’s always off. I have a icecap digital salinity meter $79 works perfect no calibration no temp adjustment. The ice cap works right out of the box no calibration. The $20 refractor meter I got from amazon also works better than apex.

Never trust the apex salinity/ph readings. I use
The icecap digital salinity reader $79. This thing is very accurate. No calibration, no tempeture adjustment. The icecap work right out of the box.
The apex can not be trusted for salinity readings.
My $20 amazon cheap refractor meter is more accurate than my 1k controller with its lab grade probes lol

Conductivity is a great method that Apex seems to implement badly.

No kidding. Terrible. Anyone on this thread have any exp. with calibration?

Bought a new probe and calibration solution. Both manual and auto calibration is not even close to 1.026. Like having a fuve year old randomly guess
At numbers.

Any thoughts at all would be very uch appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Update the icecap is also not good. After a while it’s also off. So now I am using a $20 refractometer that’s always correct

Icecap after 3 months is not accurate anymore and you can’t trust it.

Me too, now I am using a 20 dollar refractometer to see what a 1000 dollar controller might be doing. Good job !

Feeling just a little bit screwed.

I have found my Apex salinity Inaccurate and a field improvement/fix would be in order for what we pay despite the great customer service they provide. If we are going to have this feature, it can at least work accurately or close to

This is why I respect Apple products Apple doesn’t release products until they know it’s without any bugs. And when ever they have a problem it’s usually solved. Apex hasn’t address simple problems and now they want people to trust them with dosing and managing trident lol
I see a lot of dead corals in peoples future

My exp. with Apex cust service is like calling a frat house to Complain about noise.
After a while someone does get back to you sounding very superior. Not good.

I had fairly good luck with support the two times I contacted them. Keep trying

The APEX probes are for nothing. I do like the pumps but that is alot to pay for pumps.

I ALWAYS HAVE TO RECALIBRATE IT EVEN THOUGH I GET MY SALINITY UP TO PAR WITH MAIN DISPLAY TANKS WATER

The big fault is that it dies not calibrate properly. That is it does not get to the value of the calibration fluid. And there is no manual way of getting there.

So you have recalibrate every week to establish the new “ drift” value and donthe compendating math each time you want to knew what the salinity and the ph values are.

Buy a 40 dollar hydrometer and know where you are at glance at least for salinity.
