Apex do I really need ?

I have a question I have the WiFi apex the $799 kit I got last year I honestly only use it to look at parameters here and there and temp yes I do I like the app deal but do I really need such a setup ? I’m seriously thinking on a reefkeeper can’t you use a app for that ? Idk if I should sell it or what to do ? I have the display for the cabinet the $99 add on

No I have some of my tanks with them and without them and they work the same.
I have a new Apex JR sitting in a box I am thinking of getting rid of.
About the only controller you need is one for heaters.
Most equipment come with controllers anyway that do more than a Apex or any of the other controllers can do and some now have phone apps.
Personally I wish someone came out with one like the old Digital Aquatics Lite again just for heater and lights. That is all I need.
My Apex on my display tank has only a heater and lights plugged into it. Kind of expensive just to control those.

Personally I am not into one thing controlling my whole life support system for my reefs. If it fails and they do fail I do not want to loose everything.

I like tinkering with my tank and I enjoy testing, observing and even my weekly maintenance routine. When I started in the hobby, controllers were not around so I got used to functioning without one. Would a contoller like an Apex be helpful and simplify keeping my reef stable? Probably. Will I ever pull the trigger and buy one? Very unlikely.
