Apex dos, thumbs up or thumbs down?

Look great but too expensive for me to consider, especially the containers.

I've found the dos to my pretty idiot proof and reliable. I've tortured the thing and it has held up well.

Depends on what you are asking the DoS to do. It is more expensive per dosing head than some of the other good quality options. It is noisy at higher speeds, but much quieter at lower speeds. It cannot be run continuously, so not an option as a CaRx feed pump. Seems generally reliable with typical peri pump tube replacement once a year. Integration with apex is the big selling point obviously, particularly with things like AWC or trident-controlled dosing.

I have a few different applications. I use the GHL Doser 2 for trace and iron dosing. MasterFlex for CaRx feed. One DoS for AWC and a second for contolled dosing. I did try a versa but concluded it was not quite ready.

Thumbs up. Running two DOS units. one for daily AWC. One for daily ATO on one head, and amino dosing on the other. (high volume, low volume)
For me, its not just about the DOS unit itself, but I've integrated mine with Sump sensors, ATO reservoir sensors, AWC sensors, manual override "Off switches" - and carefully timed with kalk water stiring times, etc. And I overlay my DOS schedules with the measured pH results. It's about seeing it all overlayed.

Thumbs up on DOS w/Apex.

I’m building a new tank soon and want to run the Triton method with an algae rector for a 130 Gallon total system. The triton method needs 3 or 4 total pumps? I have a trident as well so was going to get a DOS to automatically keep calc and alk stable.

If your asking a pump question yes you need three pumps at the minimum.
Part 1
Part 2
Part 3 and 4 can be mixed together in one container, as they are the exact same thing.

Understand in the beginning they all need to be dosed in the same amounts.
So if you start out across the board at 10Ml if you use one pump and "Mix" then Part 3A&B dose needs to be at 20ML.

When you say they same amounts dosed, you mean part 3 and 4 right? I read about doubling it up if combined. I plan on dosing part 1 and 2 based on the trident.

Yes, as I previously explained.
If you mix 3A and B together in one container.
The the dose is doubled.

Yeah DDR is so expensive. You can use other reservoir and install sensor in it just like DDR for lesser price.

Thanks, I read your initial post as that part 1, 2, and 3A & B all needed to be dosed as the same versus just parts 3A and 3B. I plan on letting my Trident help determine the part 1 and part 2 dosings.

I have 2 Dos units as well. One for 2 part and the second for AWC. I can confirm that it’s loud. Even when just dosing alk you can hear it. But it works.

the container is a waste of $. I just set a calendar reminder to refill my 2 part jugs

I run 3 Versa’s. One for CakRx feed and other 2 for AWC. Everything works pretty much flawlessly. Depending on how much you change per minute the Versa can be loud but I haven’t heard the Dos so I couldn’t tell you if it is better or worse. I do like them. I have a feel the Mobius app will only get better over time - but so far so good.

Your getting me confused now.
The following is an example of.

For clarity.
If you are using four pumps and four containers.
Part 1 at 10ml per day
Part 2 at 10ml per day
Part 3a at 10ml per day
Part 3b at 10ml per day

If you are using three pumps and three containers and combining/mixing parts 3a&b then the dose is.

Part 1 at 10ml per day
Part 2 at 10ml per day
Mixed 3a & b at 20ml per day.

The next confusing part is to not dose at the same time.
This is also an example.

Part one at 12:00 am
Part 2 at 12:30am
Parts 3a & b at 1:00 am.
This is to prevent precipitation of the.

What’s your goal here? Trying to not do water changes? i had the water box 20 for almost a year with SPS and had great results without dosing, just weekly water changes.
