What kind of power out does the apex dos require or can i just turn it on and off with the aquabus ?

You can power it with either a power supply and then connect it the apex with an aquabus cable, or you can just use a 1 link cable and that’s all you need.
You can program it to run for the speed and time that you want with either the aquabus or 1link cable.

I don’t want to buy the power supply if it does plus 1link cable is also cheaper

1Link is the way too go, carries the power and the data, if you use aquabus cable then you need a separate power supply, so much cleaner and half the stuff to go wrong. I didn't do mine that way, and now I'm changing everything to 1Link only because I'm running 4 Dose units, 8 Heads, way too much clutter.
Now I'm double spending, which I hate.

Yes single cable for power and communication. The only reason not to use 1link is if you don’t have a spare 1link port available.
