Hey everyone, ive recently had to switch internet providers and i now have Verizon 5G home Wifi. We know the Apex does not connect to 5G and i have it running on the 2.4 option. To my knowledge ive even given it a static ip and it still seems to drop its single every day. I don’t believe i can not change routers because it seems that our Wifi through Verizon is 5G cellular and the box is the hotspot essentially. Any thoughts?

telecom engineer here. You're confusing 5G with 5GHz wifi. wifi routers operate in 2.4 GHz and 5GHz, most home networked devices only support 2.4Ghz due to the manufacturer cheaping out on parts. If you're apex connects to the new Verizon gateway it supports 2.4Ghz wifi. The apex doesnt care if your backhaul is over coax, cellular, microwave etc...

fixed cellular internet can be finicky, lots of gateways are low end devices, if you're in marginal coverage this will exacerbate the issue. It really comes down to nothing is reliable as a wired connection to the internet.

If possible I would look at the logs and see if the gateway was dropping off the cellular network or if it was just apex dropping off wifi.

Im not sure, just know what i was told. Im 100% its the apex dropping over considering the whole house is running off wifi. Any ideas on this? Wires connection isnt possible as the router gets very poor signal over by the tank.

After a week of running just fine, my new Apex started not being able to connect to Fusion every night at some point. Contacted Support and a couple of very nice techs went through everything and could find no problems. They wanted to replace my new Apex with an older "refurbished" model.
I finally just got a range extender (Netgear AC750 -- under $40 at Amazon & Walmart), plugged it in to my power strip (not the EB832), connected it to my router, and used a Cat5 from it to the Apex. Hasn't disconnected since.
Not a fix for the WiFi problem but it works.

Yeah i actually ended up getting a $10 wifi outlet off amazon and the apex eb832 is plugged into it. Its obviously not a wifi issue cause everything in the house works 24/7. When i get the alert that it’s disconnected i just power cycle it with the wifi plug app. Takes 10 seconds and its back online. I just wish the trident wouldnt pull a water sample everytime it happens cause its a 3g pico and lossing that little bit of salt water and replacing it with RO makes a difference lol before you ask no i dont use all this apex gear just for a 3g tank. I seriously downgraded tanks and it was either use the $3k gear or put it in the closet. Going in the closet was not an option.

Make sure your static ip last octet is set outside the DHCP range of your other devices and if you can figure out how to reserve the ip in your router, it's worth doing that too.

Ex if your computer gets assigned 192.168.0.32 make your apex 192.168.0.123

Semi related….both of mine have been randomly disconnecting, haven’t had the problem until a month or two ago

My DHCP is set for 100-255 and Apex is static at 75. Nothing else near that address. Used Netspot to find an unused channel to set router to and Apex still disconnected from Fusion at least once a day. Router still saw it but would not talk to Fusion. Almost always dropped at night.

Only had mine for less than a month so can't speak to anything prior but would be curious if there was an update about that time. Us programmers have a habit of improving things until they don't work anymore. ;)

What channel is the 2.4 set to? If it's not 1, 6 , or 9 that could be your issue.

Could you elaborate a bit? Im not a tech guy but i can get inside the router and get it done. Its just these terms tell me nothing you know?

In my router it's under the LAN setup tab under advanced setup. There is a field called address reservation where you would enter the static ip you have set up for the apex. That prevents the router from being able to assign that address to any other device for any reason. I also do this for any smart home device like wifi lights and such to ensure they always connect correctly after a power outage.

Is set to 8...3 other routers in the area are set to 1, 5 of them are set to 6, 2 set to 9, and 3 set to 11. 8 is in the middle with the least interference in this area.

You only ever want 1 6 or 9. The reason being is that setting to something like 8 will get interference from both 9 and 6 due to the bandwidth of the signal (bandwidth is 3 channels wide)

I used to think the same thing you did until RussM schooled me at Neptune forums about it and it genuinely helps.
