I was just updating my apex classic and everything went ok. I saw the system cycle, come back online and verified firmware version. I then updated web pages and the system shut down and hasn't returned. The flash utility lost communication with apex. I let it sit for 30 min and finally power cycled everything. All modules flash orange and the aqua controller powers on with a blank display. I power everything with out apex but I have no Temp control without it :( I have tried to restart with lan disconnected the connected it to force a new update but im having zero luck. Please help if you can. thanks

I had the same issue with a firmware update that I tried to complete almost 2 yrs ago. Did two updates prior without any problems. Did everything the exact same but for some reason it didn't work. I was forced to purchase and new base unit for $215. I refuse to update it again. Hope you can figure out what happened to yours but I think that you will end up having to get a new one anyway.

try and unplug everything from the brain and only connect 1 eb8 and do the update. Worked for me last time.

I have learned the hard way to never do updates on the weekends or weeknights.....make sure their support people are available. That being said, I would try what riman41299 suggested.....I have had to remove modules in the past to get updates to take successfully.

I quit doing Apex firmware updates too.

Got a bad one, that had bugs in it, one time :(

Did to turn your homes WIFI off, and upgrade it with all the modules unplugged.

Thanks for all the attempts. Nothing has worked. I can ping the apex so i know im on the network but still no change. Lesson learned ignore firmware updates :(

Are you going to fill out a Neptune Systems ticket?

I GOT IT!!!!!! Just came back to explain incase someone else comes across the same thing. My apex was stuck in "bootloader mode". I ended up staying direct connected to the unit. Removed everything including probes. unplugged power to EB8, started the update, powered back on and it took. I had to do this 2 times before it worked. I had found a post on neptunes forum indicating these steps and it may not work the first time. Hope this can help someone else down the road. Thank you to everyone that tried to help! I love this community!!!;Woot

Congrats!!!

Schad,

Thanks for not just asking for help - but coming back and telling us what worked. Reading your comments convinced me to try again for the 4th time - and it worked! Thanks again.

This is the only issue I have with Neptune and Apex. When I've had problems they have always helped but they talk to me like I'm a computer programmer not the IT idiot that I am. The whole process of updating firmware is horrible. It should be a one click deal like it is for every other app/program I have. Neptune really does need to work on this problem.

Right now I have and alert that says a module may be running outdated firmware. I recently had to send my Display module in for warranty work. I bet dollars to donuts that's the module that has out of date firmware. SMH.

Hi. I'm hoping you get this reply as I'm in this same boat right now. I attempted to do an update when I connected my ATK. The update froze mid way and I got the orange blinking light of death.
You said you disconnected power to the EB8/power bar and removed all probes and modules. Did you have the power supply still connected at the time or just all disconnected?
When you hooked up the power bar what stage in the upload did you connect it back to finish up the upload?
Just seeking some guidance. Thanks

this scares me.... my classic is years behind on an update. I am in need to do an update because I can no longer connect to my apex through wifi, was told I must do an update to fix this and get apex fusion (ya I was still using the apex app before, never used fusion). I am terrified when I do it everything will mess up or something.
