Woke up this morning with constant alarms. Somehow overnight my Swx4_1 optical switch now thinks it’s a flow sensor. Luckily the Swx4_2 is working and shutting off the pump anyone know how to change this back

I believe you can turn off the AutoDetect option in the module and set it back to optical. There was an identical thread about this a few days ago. I'll see if I can dig it up...

Thx for the reply James404. Neptune got back to me this morning and had the diagnosis within a few hrs. Apparently the optical sensor failed. Unfortunately it only lasted 6 days makes me nervous moving forward. Kind of one the most important things we have on an aquarium

I’ve not been all that enamored with the optical sensors. They’re fine in high level applications where the sensor stays dry most of the time, but when I’ve used them constantly submerged they foul really quickly and then just show ‘on’ constantly. I have one that is hard to clean so mostly gave up on it.

I’ve had one in my sump as a low level sensor for just over 3 months now, so far so good.

How long did it take for yours to foul and mis-read?

Probably right around 3 months. In my case the sensor is in the display where coraline algae is a problem.

Thanks. I’m going to do some maintenance tomorrow so will pull it and see how it looks, and add a clean of it to my regular maintenance schedule. Coralline won’t be an issue for me in the sump. It’s also in the return section so as clean as it gets.
