Apex Frustrations.....

I've tried it all...I've done the step by step tutorials with no success. I am having MAJOR trouble connecting to my phone. Does an apex have to be connected to a wireless router? or can it be connected through a wired router(non-wireless)?? I currently have mine direct connected to my wired router and I can successfully connect through a computer on the same network, but outside I cant. I also cant connect to my phone(android)

Currently I have this set up on the android app

Name-apex
Host-my apex IP
Port-80
SSID-blank
Wan Host-my host static ip
Wan port-80
Username-????? have that
password-???have this

where am i going wrong!? lol this is sooo frustrating. ANY HELP IS APPRECIATED!! THANKS!

Could be your ISP. Most of them block everything unless you are paying extra. Another reason to be excited about the Fusion release.

I had the same problem and am obviously not smart enough to figure it out. I am waiting for them to release their fusion software and then we won't have to worry about it. It will be web based cloud.

Change your ip to be static and the port number on the apex to something other than 80. Use something like 8888. When you connect via browser you will just have tad the custom port at the end, like 192.168.0.50:8888 where 50 would be the static ip, and 8888 is your custom port. You can then configure your router to your apex as a virtual server at the same custom port. You can use no-ip to create a static ip which would allow you to check on your tank from anywhere. I would be willing to help or take the help from anyone else here who has offered.

Do you HAVE to have access to the modem to get this to work? I live in an apartment complex that provides all of us with internet, therefore I have no access to a modem. I do have a router, however.

You need access to your router, you'll setup everything there. You'll need your outward facing ip address to setup dydns...but once properly port forwarded you shoudl at least be able access the apex when on the same network. The dydns is to access it outside of your network. You'll access it by typing in your routers ip followed by

Well, I found out how to access it from my computer on the same network but I bought this thing in hope that I can control my tank from home when I visit there. This is unfortunate....

You can, you can get your forward facing ip from the Internet (a ton of websites will give it to you). Then you sign up for a fee DNS, this will make you somewhat have a static ip that you can access from anywhere. Then you will just type in that domain name followed by a colon + portnumber (last post I put a colon and a p next to eachother it made a face). The DNS gives your router a web address to log into. You'll follow the instructions from the website you sign up for on setting that up.
