I will give some needed info I imagine. Have the Apex, 4 EB8's and display as well as use my computer to navigate as needed. 2 EB's for my 180g and 2 for my 40B. Ok, I changed out my T5's on the 40B tonight. After plugging the fixture back in to the EB8, my lights did not run according to programming. Checked everything to ensure I didn't knock something loose ad I didn't. (1) Both EB's are blinking yellow. (2)The display is not showing the Temp and PH for the 40B either. (3) I cannot get the lights to turn off using either the display or computer! I cannot get anything (pumps, powerheads, etc) to respond for my 40B. I tried to push the reset buttons on the EB8's but they didn't respond. I unplugged the EB 8's from the wall outlets and that didn't help. Can someone walk me through the steps to get my EB's to a solid green light? I'm technology challenged :9(

Here is what I found on Apex forum:

"The blinking yellow light means the base unit is in bootloader mode. It's trying to load its firmware. If you've tried to cycle the power a couple of times with no luck, then what I would do load the firmware.

There's instructions in the Reference Manual. Basically you download the firmware package from Neptune's support site. It will be a WinZip file. Double click and extract the contents to your desktop. Then run the Utility Loader. Input your units IP address, port, userid and password. Then click update firmware. When done, then click Update Web Pages. When that finishes your unit will reboot and hopefully, you'll be good to go. "

Apex has excellent customer service. I would contact them.

Oh, by the way reloading the firmware shouldn't hurt anything. Something may have gone wrong when the firmware was loaded the first time.

Unplug everything for about 5 min. Start plugging one eb8 into the base module is the brain make sure nothing is plugged into it. (That's the power source)so make sure you can access the apex after that and all lights are green. If good in that plug one thing in at a time and work back to your last device

The eb8s are flashing because the are not in contact with the base unit. He didn't specify a color for the base unit

What do you mean by unplugging everything? The power cords of the EB's that are plugged in to the wall outlets? FYI...I'm an ole' reefer lady...senior is what they call it! lol

Pretty much want one item to plug in at a time. Or one Ian cable blogged into the base unit and one into the en8 only . Unplug all the plugs that are connected to the eb8s than plug the usb cord to the base from the eb8

That should power the apex and then Make sure you note the color of the base unit led light

I just unplugged all those skinny cords that have the square ends on them ...unplugged them from the side of the EB's. After about aminute, the lights to the 10g came on which it should because of the programming. I will wait the full 5 minutes and then start plugging each one in at a time. I'm just concerned tha the tank temp wll ge too cold and I dn't know the temp. Will work on that :0)

That made it worse! Now the display is dark, All 4 EB's are blinking! The status light is off on the Apex box too! The lights are on on the10. All tis means is the heaters aren't working, the ATO's, lights...everything! This is NOT good!

(I know this is an old thread but I am hoping you reply)

Please tell me how did you fix this. Mine is doing the same thing.

I only have the apex jr, display and temp probe.

I was going through the display for roughly 10 minutes then the display froze.

Now my apex base unit goes from blinking yellow light to green and then the light goes off.

I am too the point where a hammer is my next option to take my frustration out on this point of sale.

Thanks.

Have you tried disconnecting the display to see if the Apex will boot properly? I'd unplug the display and see if I could access the Apex via Fusion or the native web interface.
