Apex Input log for heater; ON-OFF-ON-OFF...

Is this a concern that my heater keeps going on and off throughout the day? Is this too much up and down?

Graph makes a pretty small change look more extreme...I don’t think it is an issue

A 2 degree swing is not ideal.
I would recommend tightening up the programing to 77.5 to 78.5.
The heater cycling as your graph showes is normal.

I'd say your heater is too close to your temperature probe. It looks like heater increases temp of water close to probe and then turns off. Water temp immediately drops 1 degree. Is your heater in sump? Is it near probe? How much flow around heater? Does Apex turn heater on/off?

I'd change the program to no more than 1 degree of change. The 2 degrees your graph shows seem rather extreme.

Good observation, the graph does indeed show that. That said, the temp sensor should be before the heater in your sump and not after.

Also, are you just using the Apex to control the heaters, or is the Apex the secondary controller to a primary controller on the heater? You can use a Inkbird or something similar to turn the heaters on and off, and use the Apex to turn it on and off at a wider range thus saving wearing out the relays.

I use the t-stats on the Finnex titanium heaters to control the tighter temps that I want and use the Apex as a secondary in case one of my heaters stick on.

That only seems a worry on the EB832.

Provided your heater isn't over 500W, outlets 1-3 & 5-7 on an EB8 just don't have that problem and hence my prior question.

I have my heaters set for .4 of a degree between an on/off cycle - staggered between multiple heaters.
