Hi all. i purchased a used Apex Neptune from my LFS. I brought it home and set it up or so I thought. The ph was crazy and I read that I should replace the ph probe. I did that. After that I got the courage to plug in the heater into the power bar. I monitored via the app and everything looked good. I went to bed and woke up the next morning and checked the temp 76.5 on the app. I went to fed the tank and felt the heat coming off the top. I manually checked the temp with my thermometer and it read 86 degrees. Ugh... so I unplugged the heater, cooled the tank down, dried my tears, and tried to figure out what happened and why didn’t I get an alarm. Looking at the graph it never even budged off of 76.5. So I ordered a new temp probe... Now, Im having a new issue. I can control pumps, skimmer, etc but it doesn’t graph the ph, orp, temp, and hasn’t since 1800 on the 9th. Thoughts?

You bought it used. Did you do a hard factory reset before using it?

Use an eheim Jager heater as the heating element. Set the eheim to 2 degrees above your desired tank temp. If the apex screws up again, the eheim will shut itself off before disaster.

Have you tried disabling and then reenabling the probe?

Did you calibrate the temp prob? I bought one used that was 10 degrees too high according to my calibrated thermometer and glass one.

Calibrate the probe.

I don’t think y’all realize his issue. It’s not that the probe won’t read, it’s that sensor graph isn’t working. If you look at the screenshot, the readings are fine.

I’ll mess with the probes tomorrow and report my findings. I read in another Facebook group that it was recommended to not calibrate the temp probe because it should never need to be calibrate. I appreciate it.

Ok. I’m lost. I unplugged the power bar let it set for at least 30 seconds. Plugged it back in, no change. I reset the Apex and linked it. No change, but now I can’t control anything. So I do a factory reset, re-link it, and again. I can’t control anything. I also don’t have any probes plugged in but my dashboard says I have an 8 for ph and a temp of 75. Neither are correct. Any suggestions?

With the help of Apex Support we figured out the issue. The clock on my Apex was set in the past. It's crazy that I never even tried that. ;Shamefullyembarrased

Glad to see that you solved the issue. I thought Apex controllers auto-synced their time and date?
