I presently have a reefkeeper lite

I see an Apex Jr for sale, brand new for $175 on craigslist.. I can try to haggle them down a bit.

Should I save the money and keep my RKL, or get a brand new Apex Jr?

I currently only have experience with the Apex Jr. I love controlling everything through my iPhone. Didn't have that option with the reefkeeper

I'd go with the APEX. Much better control and system data.

Apex didn't have a system in the RKL's cost neighborhood at least when I was looking.

If cost doesn't settle it in favor of the Reefkeeper, then look at the programming of each system.

The Reefkeeper isn't perfect (let's stay realistic), but it requires no programming skills. If you can program a VCR or set top box, you can set up your Reefkeeper.

From what I've seen of Apex, you'll be stuck programming it...borrowing code from others because it's too complex to DIY, etc. Fine if that's what you're signing up for, but for me the Reefkeeper was a simplification. Mixing programming into the mix ruins the equation for me.

Thanks @mcarroll - thats what i am seeing too.

I am using the RKL for dosing, heater and temp. it's doing the job.

The lowest they'll sell for is $165. it is under the going price. still debating if I want to get it just to have another controller, or save for the more upgraded version of Apex

Fusion takes out most of the programming required. If it didn't, I'd be up the creek without a paddle:eek:
