Yes you can. I actually have an EB8 and was using it with the Apex JR but I'm keeping it and using it now with my Full apex since I have a million plugs for my tank lol. Also if you do buy an EB8 just make sure you get another Aquabus cable to link them together. I can't remember if the EB8 comes with one or if I had to buy it separately.
