So I have been looking around for a apex jr for a while and stumbled across my LFS selling one without display or temp probe for 75$. I decided to pick it up. First question, am I losing money on this deal? Second question, can I set this up without a display? And last question, can I connect it to another setup as if it was an EB4 if I was to go that route? Any help will be awesome!

I suggest you to look on their page apexfusion.com or neptunesystems.com

If you are using an apex jr i hate to say this but you can only have a max of 5 modules and the regular apex is 250. its ok if you dont plan on really expanding. I personally would of passed just knowing that information. Best of luck my friend.

It's a fail safe for when I am away from my tank. I want as much manual control as I can get. It intrigues me more. So the modules don't matter too much

Yeah I only want a heater and one pump as of now maybe an eb8 will be down the road. I have anever auto feeder from neptune to connect.

Yes you can set it up with out display. I have been using a apex jr with out display for 3 years. I have the pm1 I think and vdm modules. You just have to plug it into a computer through a router. Hard wired, then log into the IP address. You may need to wright apex as they have soft ware for it that will reset login and password. Then set up the apex fusion and your all set. For what it's worth I think that is a good deal.

I purchased the JR with the display screen and Temp probe. At the time 4 outlets was enough but I soon outgrew the unit with my larger tank. For and extra $160 I purchased an Eb8 and now have 12 outlets and total spent was a little over $415.00, less than the full unit and I have more outlets that those that have bought the full version with 8. I have still have 2 outlets not being used and room for 3 more modules I may or may not ever need or want. My thinking is 5 modules is plenty for majority of people and yes 250 modules sounds great. If I ever get to the point that I need 6 modules or even 250 for that matter then that means I have endless amount of $$$ so buying the full unit will not be a problem. Look at it as the Costco/SAMs club thinking, the small bottle of mustard at he grocery store will be Plenty and perhaps last years in my fridge! But I buy the 10 gallon jug of mustard because I hope I will some day use it all up. Just my thought..... Look at your tank and needs and see what works best for you. There is no doubt the Gold package is great but the Jr is also great and if $ is an issue its a great start.

There are many reasons for why they decide to not change that. :-) for a long time marine depot still have the pictures of the black apex
On their site..... :-)

When it comes to apex, 99.5 % of the time I will go with RussM.

BRS says 5 modules max for apex jr. Iv also read the same other places. I wouldn't think a higher end retailer would fail to add a selling point to a major product like neptune apex.

Did you buy it new or used? If the apex is reset to the init state then yes, read ^^^^^jonmos75 ^^^^. If it is set to a certain way, you might have to find out the ip address...borrow a display and reset the sucker :-)

So with all this talkin how can I connect my apex jr without a display
