I'm home today and was around to watch my lights turn on and everything. All hooked up to the apex. Just walked by the tank and the lights are off. Checked temp and it shouldn't affect them. Started lookin at fusion and it won't control anything. Start going through the controller and it says "no comm".
So I unplugged the unit and plugged it back in and everything restarts.

Why did this happen, cause this worries me.

It's wired. Just easier that way if it needs a firmware update.

Also apparently I lost power around 3 but never got a notice from it till I reset it.

Or you could have Comcast like I have and have no internet for 3 days(that was my whine, just had to do it) you could have had a slight drop in internet service and the system need to reconnect by re-booting. Next time do Middle button>system>netsetup>restart.
did you try to log into the system using your browser using the IP?

That kind of make since.

when fusion is up, fusion should indicate that you have a firmware update

The slight drop in service is possible/probable as my phone was acting up too. I will try that, just figured the easiest way was to unplug.

Is this a new system?

It is fairly new, only up a month or two.

I should have put this in there too
Middle button>system>netsetup> IP Address> 00.0.0.00 and copy and past this in your internet browser and log in as admin ???? and you can log indirectly through an IP

A power hiccup causing the issue definitely make sense, most of the time the system will automatically send you an alert once the powers restored. There are rare occasions where the system doesn't reinitialize correctly, and no alerts are sent out even when the power is restored. A simple reinitializing of it's core operating system and functions is required in order to reestablishing the communication. IME, in an attempt to mitigate this problem a UPS is always recommended to maintain up time and help resolve issues like this.

But this has some limits, all devices not just the apex would have to be on a UPS. Most ISPs bundle their modem systems with a built-in UPS so you're safe at that endpoint but if you have some sort of a hub or switch, they would also have to be place on a UPS, this is the only way to ensure continuous communication between the apex and the Internet, in this case the fusion website. If you have a UPS you can also turn on the feature that will tell the apex unit that an EB8 has lost power and send you an email making you aware of the down status.

I think you need to have the dhcp on off if not it's going to keep changing the isp address I have mine on off and when I loose comm. I don't have to reboot the apex it connect on its own
I read that somewhere that when you do the initial connection connect and then shut it off ... Take this with a grain of salt as I am lost with computers lol but that helped me haven't had any connections problems ever since

Even fusion is down or no network, the apex should still turn on the lights and does stuff...unless it is in a weird state and became useless...a power cycle helps in this case.
So your apex is back online now right?

It is back on line. As soon as I unplug/re plug everything turned on again.

I've lost power before and it let me know. Then let me know when power was restored. This time nothing. I thought if it lost power fusion was supposed to let me know.

Not sure if anyone here seen my thread from yesterday, but we lost power. Around 3:00 a car hit a pole. No alert at all. Power came back at 10:30. No alert at all. Went and check the tanks and it had reverted back to "no comm" again. I had to cycle the power to get it to reset. Then I get the alerts!

There's another thread about a guy wanting to throw his away since it didn't alert him, I'm going to be in the same boat if this is the way it's going to go.

I thought fusion was cloud based and would alert even if the whole house lost power.

Fusion is cloud based, but if the Apex base unit has no way to communicate with Fusion then how is Fusion going to tell you there is an issue.

With that being said what most likely happened was when the power was restored the Apex booted up faster then the router. The router assigned the Apex a new IP address, but due to the Apex loading up faster it thought the router was going to use the same IP address. By you rebooting the Apex controller you asked the Apex to ask the router what IP address should it be using now.

How I reduce this from happening on my system was I installed two UPS systems. One smaller one that keeps the modem and router having power and a larger UPS for the tank so I can run key equipment for a period of time.

It won't let you know unless you set that up CORRECTLY . Can you throw it my way when you decide to? I'll pay for shipping and handling :-)

How isn't it set up correctly? If it looses power it is suppose to alert me. If the whole house looses power, it looses connection to fusion. Fusion should have alerted me.

At least that's how understood it to work.

:-)
I won't answer that if you have decided to "There's another thread about a guy wanting to throw his away since it didn't alert him, I'm going to be in the same boat if this is the way it's going to go"
