Apex on a waterbox 25 AIO

I’m in the process of upgrading my 10 gallon nano reef tank to a waterbox 25 AIO peninsula reef tank. What’s everyone’s thoughts on and Apex controller for a small AIO? Overkill? Any logistical insight from people who have done it? I plan on upgrading the tank in about 5-8 years to a large Peninsula so it would be nice if I had experience with the equipment and possibly be able to transfer it over. Thanks!

I am not really sure it can be considered overkill on any system, as it's purpose stays the same. If cost is not a barrier, why not?

Personally, I decided against it, and used the money instead to upgrade my tank. I don't mind testing manually, and the few monitoring helpers I have do the job.

I have 3 aquariums in my house. 90, 15 and a 20. I have an apex on my 90. I also have a spare apex still in the box. I chose not to put it on the 20 and 15 because of my ocd tendencies. I also don't care as much about those tanks.

Now i would like the apex to monitor my ro containers and maybe be able to turn things on and off for WCs.

I think it depends on what you want out of the apex.

I like the idea of being able to 24/7 monitor and prevent catastrophe. I hand do everything right now. I was looking into trident as well but not sure how efficient it’ll be with no sump
