Neither is better or worse. Just different. I have and run both. I have Apex hardware that is over 7 years old and not a single failure to date. I have had a DOA Hydros Wifi Power bar, a Wifi Power bar that was constantly disconnecting, and my brand new XP8 took about a dozen factory resets before it would find my Wifi and connect even though the Control 4 right next to it found my wifi no issue.
You can get into Hydros cheaper though. The Control 3 Pro Pack is the sweet spot IMO unless you absolutely need what the Control 4 offers.
