I have a 32 gallon all in one tank Space is very tight in the return part of the tank where I currently keep my ATO sensors and Apex probes. I'm now at a point where I need to add a scrubber as the mechanical filtration is not keeping up - even with one a day frozen mysis feeding.

A hang on back solution won't work as I only have 2” behind the tank. I was looking to add a scrubber (specifically designed for my fluval tank - a fluval ps1) but that would require moving the probes to the display side of the tank.

Would this impair the probes as they could be prone to algae and other build up?

Kind of. If you calibrate them on a regular basis and give them a light toothbrush scrub they will be fine.

On one of my tanks, my two options were refugium or skimmer chamber. The refugium chamber has more stable reading even though there is a lot of algae and cheato. I just have to brush off the gunk once a month or when I get an obviously wrong reading.
