So what’s the ideal spot for the probs? Right now I have them in a pretty dead area in the sump, I was wondering, if space allows if I should try and get them in the section the plumbing comes into the sump?

Any thoughts ?

I don’t think it matters too much unless you are having issues with micro-bubbles in your salinity probe. Some folks do have problems with this if the probe is in the skimmer compartment. In my case all 4 probes are in the skimmer compartment and I don’t have any issues.

Ok that’s why I asked because I do think that’s happening , I’m gonna move that one. Can they be fully submerged ? I.e. past the thin wire?

I have my salinity probe fully submerged and upside down so bubbles don’t accumulate inside. Any bubbles just float up out of the tube end. It’s worked very well for over a year now. Neptune warns that the cable will become brittle over time, but mine is located where I won’t bump it so I’m not concerned.

As mentioned above the probes can be fully submerged but it is not recommended as prolonged exposure of the probe wire to salt water will cause it to harden and prematurely fail due to cracking. If you don’t touch the probe you reduce the risk of it cracking but it will still harden and eventually you will have to move it with the consequential risk of failure.

Depends on if it includes a temp probe as you want that to become before your heater. My probes are in the first chamber by the filter sock, and the heater is in the last chamber by the return pump

I was gonna have them all in that first section. I don’t right now, but just made sense to me as you would want to test the water as soon as it comes into the sump? That’s what I would have thought.
