Hello,
I was wondering if any one ever monitored humidity in a room from an
apex controller this is something I would like to be able to do as I have a
large tank and the room its in does get some high humidity I have several people
that run dehumidifyers but I would like to monitor it and run a fan to a vent
and just move the air from the room that way. any thoughts
Thanks Joel

I had one in my fish room, and yes it helped with the high humidity, but it made for more tank evaporation and the saltwater turned everything inside the humidifier to rust. Same with my computer and everything else,...... that's metal. Pro's & Con's with having one.

that's what most people run into exactly, not only does it suck water from your tank and rust everything your running lots of power plus your well or water bill as it will need to refill the sump. I feel moving air via vent and fan would be a much better way to go even in summer hotter months when hot air sits high in the room.

I don't believe Neptune has a humidity sensor available to the hobbiest. I suppose you could wire a 12VDC dehumidistat to a breakout box that would monitor the open or closed contact within the dehumidistat and then it could turn on the dehumidifier when it was closed at your desired set point. I have a built in tank in my laundry room and have had the ceiling fan on a timer, dehumidistat and a coolingstat. I found the best of them was to simply have the fan turn on for an hour or two a couple times a day. If you want to know how often your using your unit put it on a timer and then increase the amount of time you use it until you are getting the amount of water you used to get when it ran on auto.

Before I decided to move I was about to buy a bathroom vent that has a built-in humidity control and install it in the room (tank was built into the living room wall and was in a spare bedroom). You can get them at Lowe's.
