So I'm a newbie setting up my first tank and I got a 12 plug power cord today. As I was mentally going over everything I'll be plugging into it I realized eventually I will use most if not all those plugs and it got me wondering something. Eventually I want to get an apex system and that only has 8 plugs. Can you buy an extra apex power cord and run them both on 1 system or do you have to buy a whole second system?

Yes, you can buy extra eb8's or eb4's and control them all. If you get the apex full system you can control something like 250 different things on just the one controller. All you would need is the Aquarius cables to hook them all up which all apex modules come with. Of course if you need longer than the supplied cable you can order longer ones.

As mentioned above, you can purchase extra EB8s. I actually have 2 on my system and was still running out of space.
I didn't want to get another, mostly because I didn't have space to mount it next to the other 2 inside my cabinet.

If you have Ecotech pumps and plan to get the Apex WXM module, then you can take those pumps off the EB8 and put them on a regular power strip. The WXM creates virtual outlets for the pumps which you can program. Including, turning them on and off.

I was able to move 3 powerheads and 2 lights to a regular strip outlet and was still able to program control of each via the WXM module. Now I have extra space on my second EB8. The only setback that I know of is that you won't see the power consumption for those powerheads not connected to EB8.
