I just finished hooking up my apex EL (! waited a long time to get this) anyhow I had no issues and it was simple..then when i went to switch all my plugs I set the things to auto..and it went off..2x..I wondered if id overloaded something..but the lights where still on the unit..so I just switched everything to "on" I really had an easy time setting up and everything is running fine now that I have them all switched to "on" I assumed "auto" meant follow whatever advancd programming is on that outlet..can someone explain this to me and save me some time figuring it out...I got an alarm email that I dont understand that said item 1 then the date and time and then status ON and the end says set to OFF...what the heck is that...I would love to hear form people who can help

It's very broad subject and question.
There is no one answer to any setup.
So let's start with how many ites you have plugged into eb8 or eb832 (energy bar)
There should be 8 x 110v outlets in either model.
How many are you using? And what equipment is plugged in? What exactly do you want that particular equipment to do? For example if it's a pump you want it on at all times or certain time of day etc.
Once we have a bit more detail about your equipment then we can help you program them individually.
Regarding email notifications, I bet it's just default settings to go off on something unless you programmed it.
Anyway you can take screen shots of apex interface and email settings?

let me try to be more descriptive..my first and main question is..are you supposed to set them to" auto"..or "on" I assume auto means they will follow the programming for each outlet..I have renamed a couple and changed that for a couple that I didnt need in that setup. I have the following equipment on it..at this time..I will start with outlet 1 and go right on to 8 . 1- ATO 2 -will be heater #2/ 3-Returnpump 4-heater 5- skimmer 6-biopellets 7-fugelight (not used right now-not plugged in yet. 8-55watt UV ..thats it..I have two outlets I am not using right now but will likey use the 2 slot and the 7 slot fugelight. I have the apex plugged into a power strip. my first time turning it on I moved the plugs to their spot and had flipped it on "auto" while I started doing this..it turned off once..then I had to actually move the power bar plug so it was off after that as well..so i came to my computer and just put everything to "on" and everything fired up fine and has been running fine..my lights/powerheads are on another wall outlet and I dont need to control them with the apex really they have their own contollers...so should I have things set to "auto" ?or "on" I want them to follow their outlet programming..thats what im making sure of..If so I will switch them to "auto" and see if anything weird happens..Im using the dedicated ones for ret pump main heater skimmer and so on..I only changed the name of a couple of the others and set them to always on...I dont know why it went off the first time..but when i came to the pc everything was switched off..after i had previously switched them to auto to start it all up and switch plugs.. I doubt it is overloaded as i had the same if not a little more things running off one double wall outlet with two power strips..does anyone know the max you should run on apex energy bar..since I dont have lights on it..the uv and the heaters and pump are probably drawing the most juice..

also let me say..I think it was pretty easy to set up the apex and I Think i have the programming at this point to do what i need..dont need to mess with that -yet..I was just wondering why that happend when i started it up..i have it " on" right now and see no signs of overload ...I also dont understand what the alarm is telling me..the email alarm..that i mentioned in my first post..I dont know what that means..so I really just want to know..if i should put everything back on "auto" like I thought it should be..and see what happens? I went with the default programming on all the important outlets and just changed the names for the outlets I wasnt using for lights one is ATO and always on -fine for now..and the second will have my second heater plugged in eventually though i dont seem to need it now that its warmer...I want to adjust it some before I plug it in..

10,000 words can more easily be solved with screenshots of what your programming is for the troubled devices.

Share screenshots and we'll go from there

.

I would recommend you d/l the manual for your energy bar type
https://www.neptunesystems.com/support/docs/
This will tell you what you can plug into it and where

Then we can work on the programing part. On means the outlet is always on. Off means its always off.
Auto mean it will follow the programming you have for that outlet

Auto goes off your programming and is the preferred method. Post screenshots of your programming and we can help.

Help us help you by posting the programming of your outlets.

As stated above "Auto" uses the programming in the outlet to make decisions whether to be on or off. Without knowing your programming on the outlets we cannot help diagnose the problem.

thanks ladies and gentlemen..I think i may have it worked out..I have switched it to auto and no issues..it just did that the first time I turned it on and was plugging things in..so i was unsure..I checked the programming which is pretty easy..I think thats ok ..when you answered my question and confirmed what I assumed about auto I wanted to make sure before I did that . what I do not understand is this alert im pasting below..how do you know what the alert means...?

the apex appears to be sending me one email an hour for an alarm ( I have no way of knowing what the alarm is everything is running fine so far..could someone look back at my last post or two and I copy pasted the alarm..does anyone know what that is?

First
Go to the output window in Fusion. Click on the 1st alarm. Set it to Off. Do that with the others. You should not get any alarms. Then we can work on setting them up

No worries, there are no dumb questions. We will be able to help you get set up. Your Labrador looks awesome in your avatar btw.

thanks..she is actually a golden retriever who just got out of the water so she looks like a lab..I see you have a great looking pup in your avatar

If you sign in to Fusion, can you take a screenshot of:
-Dashboard (include probe readings)
-Go to each outlet, change the type to "advanced" and snap the reading (you can change the type back right afterwards)
-Go to the email outlet and snap that programming

This will help us to get an idea of what the problem is.

Good deal, glad to hear that it's working out for you.

thank you all for helping...a new apex is fantastic..however at first it makes you a little paranoid...especially with heaters and return pumps..
